On June 5th, 2014 the
San Antonio Spurs literally beat the heat as they went on to face the NBA’s two
time defending NBA Champions. Proving to be the best of the West, the San
Antonio Spurs are off to a great start as they face the Miami Heat in this
year’s 2014 NBA Playoffs Finals. Leading the series 1-0, the Spurs showed the
Heat who was boss in front of their home crowd defeating the Miami Heat with a
final score of 110 – 95. Hopefully this year is not a repeat of last year, as
it was the same two teams who met in last year’s 2013 NBA Playoff Finals, with
the Miami Heat proving to be the best. The Spurs beat the heat literally as
there was a failure with the arena’s air conditioning. The temperature down on
the basketball court reached 89 degrees Fahrenheit, which is equivalent to
about 32 degrees Celsius. To keep cool, players on both teams placed ice packs
on their necks as spectators used anything they could as improvised fans.
I am excited to see which team
will be the winner of this year’s 2014 NBA Playoffs. I like both teams and know
that both have their reasons for winning. The Heat are in reach of winning
their third straight NBA Championship, while the Spurs look to avenge what happened
last year as they lost to the Miami Heat in game seven of the 2013 NBA
Playoffs. For both teams I have my personal favorites, having: James, Wade,
Allen, Duncan, and Ginobili to name a few. Having witnessed last years playoff
finals I can only expect something similar, if not better from this year’s NBA
Playoff Finals. Part of me wants the Spurs to win and the other half of me
would like to see the Heat go on to be three time NBA Champions. Game 2 is
scheduled for Sunday June 8th, 2014 once again balling it out on San Antonio territory.
